Step 01
Exterior carpentry that survives a Maine winter
Freeze-thaw cycles, wind-driven rain, and ice damming are what actually destroy exterior wood here — not age. Rot starts small and predictable: trim boards, window and door sills, stair stringers, deck ledgers. Caught as carpentry it is a scheduled repair; caught a season later it is framing and structural work at several times the cost. We cut back to sound material and replace with properly flashed, primed, and back-primed stock rather than caulking over a failure that will reopen next spring.
